My parents like to joke that from the day I was born, they knew I was FULL of drama.

Turns out, they weren’t wrong!

It’s a passion I have felt since childhood. At the start of my ninth grade year, we moved from Kansas to Texas. I’m here to tell you that for a 14-year-old girl that was traumatic. Daily, I thought my parents had ruined my life. But what I eventually discovered was that it allowed me to grow in more ways than I could have imagined. I auditioned and was accepted into a fine arts public charter school, Fort Worth Academy of the Fine Arts.

In that safe, creative environment, I was surrounded by like-minded peers and teachers who challenged me daily and fostered my love for the arts. In their skilled hands, I was thrown, shoved, and yanked way, way out of my comfort zone. Trust me, I grew! My high school performances include Big Stone in Eurydice, Ensemble/Mrs. Bascombe in Carousel, Raynelle in Dearly Departed, and cabaret show characters. Other skills I learned while in high school would be Stage Manager, Sound Tech, Set Builder, and Thespian Officer (troupe 6391).

After high school, my stretched comfort zone and I took our show on the road about 50 miles north. We traveled to the University of North Texas (UNT) where I graduated Magna Cum Laude in April of 2021 with my Bachelors of Arts in Theatre, Performance Concentration.

CLASSES I’VE TAKEN:

Some of the UNT theatre classes I’ve taken to grow my knowledge include Acting Realism, Acting Styles, Acting for Camera I and II, Movement, Play Analysis (Standard, LGBTQ+, and Chicano), Musical Theatre, Voice, Voiceover, Theatre History I and II, and Directing I and II. I had the privilege of taking a week-long masterclass with NY Goofs Clown School. I also did a few shows when I could find time in between homework and classes! Some of my favorite performances are Bee-Bee in SubUrbia, Gail/Catherine in The Memory Project, Ghost of Christmas Past in A Christmas Carol, Grace in The Door. And, of course, Clown School where I received an honorary Goof Diploma.

In the future, I look forward to applying to grad schools and eventually receiving my MFA in Theatre Performance, and then pursuing a full-time professional acting career.
